World Poker Tour Women's League launched
10th January, 2008
A new poker league has been launched by the World Poker Tour (WPT) which is aimed at getting more women into the game.
The Ladies League will welcome both professional and amateur players and will have buy-ins ranging from $300 - $1,500.
It is hoped that these relatively low costs will encourage more females to join in the game and get the opportunity to test their skills at a number of prestigious events.
"Women are a rising force in poker," said Robyn Moder, executive vice president of WPT Studios.
"By bringing a WPT ladies league and tour stops to top gaming destinations across the US, we hope to support and perpetuate the evolution of the sport and recognition of the women who play."
The first season of the league will kick off in the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City and will end with the championship tournament in the Bellagio, Las Vegas.
