Absolute Poker introduces deal making at final tables

5th June, 2008

Absolute Poker has announced a new feature for all the final tables of online poker tournaments on the site, whereby players can agree a deal to walk away with a pre-agreed amount of the final pot.

The Deal Making button will appear as soon as a tournament reaches the final table, and once all remaining players have agreed to make a deal, the negotiation process will start. The poker tournament will temporarily pause before a tournament manager joins the chat and oversees the chat as the deal is discussed. The tournament manager will be there to provide useful information on chip equity which may help the players come to a decision quicker.

If the players come to an agreement, then the pot will be divided up accordingly there and then. If not, the tournament will continue as before, but with possibly more pride at stake…

Abolsute Poker’s Senior Vice President David Clainer said of the feature: “We’re making it easier for players to facilitate deals so that everyone can walk away from a big tournament with a healthy win.” He also spoke about how a poker tournament can really can be decided by the toss of a coin at the final table, with all the players taking a pop at winning the big pot. This new feature will now give the players the ability to leave the table without the potential for a huge loss on just the one hand.

The feature will be available on selected poker tournaments only, as indicated in the Absolute Poker tournament lobby.
